What Not to Bare: A Loveswept Historical Romance - Megan Frampton

In What Not to Bare by Megan Frampton, Lady Charlotte Jepstow likes her style, even if nobody else does. She likes bold colors and combinations that nobody else in the ton would be seen dead in, especially a single woman still looking to be courted. But Charlotte has her reasons, not only does she love those colors, she also knows that the man that she marries will have to be someone who will look beyond her color choices to the real her hiding underneath.

Too bad all those who show a minor interest are so obviously interested in her money only and not her. So when she puts them to the test with her wits and always speaking her mind, they run away since they won’t be able to just have her put somewhere while they enjoy her money. She knows that her parents see her a burden or as she secretly calls her self, the eternal burden, and the ton see her as The Abomination as they call her behind her back.

Lord David Marchton does not want to be in London, but due to an unfortunate indiscretion where he was caught he either left India while things cooled down or he would loose his position. Now attending balls of the ton as the handsome young brother of the marquees, David can’t help but wonder when he will be able to return to India and be useful instead of being judged for his handsome face.

Unfortunately for David, he is asked by his superior to court his niece, the one woman that no other man wants to court. It doesn’t have to be permanent, but he has to show enough interest to make the other lads stand and pay attention to her too. At first David does not want to court Charlotte, but either he does as he is commanded or he will loose his position and chance of returning to India.

Charlotte believes that David asked her to dance out of pity, but she soon finds herself having a lot of fun talking to him. She knows that she cannot expect anything between them to be serious, how could someone so handsome even be remotely interested in the abomination. But soon she finds herself looking for David and spending a lot of time with him at the balls. But with her popularity increasing her time with him becomes more limited. Which leads to her seeking David out at his home and them doing thing that were inappropriate for a single woman.

So when her mother finds a widower with children to marry Charlotte, she knows that she must find a way to dissuade him, for he is only after her money to support the his family and a replacement for their mother, neither of which she wants. But with David only supposed to court her while she was proposed to, thing will get complicated. Not only because he may go against orders, but because in Charlotte he found someone he could be himself with and the woman he may not be able to just let go.
